Glazing Project

YPS were awarded the contract to replace all the glazing on this commercial property in Harrow. The property was an office block of four levels with over 100 windows that needed to be replaced. As the main contractor we were tasked with handling everything from planning to installation.

We drew up plans and submitted a planning application to Harrow Council. We had to have the new windows made from aluminium to match the existing design. The old windows were single-glazed and many of them not even opening. The client wanted new aluminium double-glazed windows.

We submitted another application for erecting scaffolding and brought in a scaffold contractor. Once the scaffold was up, we took detailed measurements for fabrication. We replaced the windows floor by floor.

The process consisted of removing the old windows, prepping the opening, and installing the new windows. Once the new windows were installed, we plastered and painted from the inside and sealed proofed the windows from the outside.

This was a successful project and the client was very happy. The new double-glazed aluminium windows made a big difference to the property. They are excelling in sound and thermal proofing.
